European Chamber Vice President Meets with EU Commissioner for Agriculture

On April 24th, Klaus Zenkel, Vice President of the European Chamber and Chair of the South China Board, was invited to attend the Opening Ceremony of the EU Pavilion at "Anuga Select China," where he met Janusz Wojciechowski, EU Commissioner for Agriculture.

During their discussion, Zenkel and Wojciechowski addressed the trade of agricultural products between the EU and China, focusing on the Chamber's efforts to advocate for a level playing field for EU companies in the local market.

Wojciechowski highlighted the balanced nature of the trade in these products and emphasised the EU's priorities regarding "Protected Designation of Origin (PDO)," "Protected Geographical Indication (PGI)," and EU Organic Labelling. He also mentioned his visits to Shanghai and Beijing.

The Opening Ceremony was attended by several Consulates General and Consulates from EU member states, including Belgium, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Spain. During the event, Zenkel also met Cristina Rueda Catry, Head of External Communication & Promotion Policy, and Diego Canga Fano, Director of Outreach, Research & Geographical Indications, both representing the DG for Agriculture and Rural Development at the EU Commission.
